Almost a third of NSW voters would be forced to go into debt to cover an unexpected $600 bill according to an exclusive poll showing the rising cost of living will be the biggest issue deciding votes at the next state election.

There are less than 200 days to go until NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet and Labor opposition leader Chris Minns square off in the 2023 state election.The data comes as Mr Perrottet and Labor leader Chris Minns shape their election pitches ahead of what will be the second state election to take place since Prime Minister Anthony Albanese formed a Labor federal government.

Federal politics could also be playing into the voting movements in the state, Mr Turner said. Voter support for Mr Albanese in the poll had pushed his net favourability to 24 points, higher than both federal Labor and NSW Labor’s net favourability ratings of 21 points. On Monday, NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet toured flood affected regions in Western NSW alongside the prime minister, who enraged the state Liberals over the weekend announcing a blockbusterPrepping Labor for the election fight, Mr Minns pledged to build a new fleet of trains in NSW and to create 1000 permanent jobs in domestic manufacturing, while also unveiling a plan to create 10,000 new permanent teaching roles in the state by making temporary roles permanent.
