On Sunday, Ombudsman Samuel Martires denied any conflict with the Department of Justice concerning the investigation into Vice President Sara Duterte 's alleged threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. , First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, and Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez. Martires stated that the Office of the Ombudsman is not arguing with the DOJ, but was concerned about being misled.
He clarified that the Ombudsman would only investigate if the threats were connected to Duterte's role as Vice President. He also dismissed claims that he was biased due to his appointment by the former President Rodrigo Duterte
