Okanagan Nation Alliance demands inquiry into foster care after fraudulent social worker case
A few months after the damage caused by a fraudulent social worker was brought to light, the Okanagan Nation Alliance is demanding a public inquiry.
Robert Riley Saunders was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to three charges of fraud, breach of trust and using a forged document on July 25, following a lengthy trial in a Kelowna Supreme Court. Saunders would then create additional paperwork to make it look like the youth were receiving the cheques., an aggravating factor of the case which Saunders repeatedly denied while under cross-examination during the earlier Gardiner hearing.
