The women’s team played to a scoreless draw against the UNB Varsity Reds, and the Fredericton-based university edged the Panthers 1-0 on a late goal in the men’s game.The results leave the UPEI women, who have scored one goal in five regular-season games, at 0-3-2 and the men sit at 0-4-1 in Atlantic University Sport regular-season play. The UPEI men have scored three goals in the regular season.
The UPEI teams are back in action on Oct. 6 when they visit Acadia. The women’s game begins at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s match at 7:15 p.m. The UPEI Panthers’ Duncan Murray, 8, focuses on playing the ball while under pressure from Francois Maurice, 16, of the UNB Varsity Reds. The action took place in an Atlantic University Sport men’s soccer game at UPEI on Oct. 2.
