The incident happened following the conclusion of the Leinster senior football final.
Offaly GAA chairman Michael Duignan has described yesterday's incident that saw referee Barry Tiernan pushed to the ground as "absolutely disgraceful".
This incensed the Tullamore players who surrounded referee Tiernan at the conclusion of the match. He was then escorted from the pitch by stewards. It was at this stage that the incident occurred. Footage from streaming provider Clubber, who were broadcasting the match, appeared to show the referee being pushed to the ground by someone.
“I saw it myself and I can't deny it, a disgraceful incident," Duignan told Sunday Sport on RTÉ Radio One having watched the incident in O'Connor Park.
