A “significant increase” in the Covid-19 positivity rate in South Cotabato and Misamis Oriental has been observed in the past week, said the OCTA Research on Monday, Feb. 27.
In an update posted on social media, OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said that the positivity rate from Feb. 18 to 25 in South Cotabato and Misamis Oriental increased from 2.8 percent to 13 percent and 4.3 percent to 6.5 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila’s positivity rate had a “negligible decrease” from 1.7 percent to 1.6 percent during the same monitoring period. Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from those who were tested for Covid-19. The World Health Organization has recommended a positivity rate of 5 percent or less to show that the spread of the virus is under control.
