Oaktree Capital Management is banking on co-founder Howard Marks to help reel in Australian-investor dollars for its new managed funds.
Oaktree, represented by local fundraising firm Spire Capital, has started booking Australian family offices and high-net worth types for a “fireside chat” with Marks in Sydney and Melbourne early next month.In invites seen by Street Talk, investors were told Marks would discuss the current market environment for opportunistic investing.
“We look forward to conducting an in-depth discussion with Howard on the current environment, as well as the benefits of a value-oriented approach during times of stress.” Investors were promised the chance to ask Marks questions themselves in a QMarks is obviously an investment legend, and he makes his thoughts pretty well known via detailed memos to investors. His latest letter, released on October 13, spanned 10 pages, while September’s missive hit 15 pages.
