Friday, the Greater Victoria Public Library said the branch will be back in its full capacity starting at 10 a.m., on June 6.
According to the District of Oak Bay, there was no reason to believe staff had come into contact with the asbestos — or that the public had any risk of contamination.Shortly following the closure, the District of Oak Bay set an initial timeline of 12 weeks for the library to get the repairs it needed and reopen to the public.
However, the library is now set to open with new renovations that include new carpeting, energy-efficient LED lighting, new paint and spray foam insulation in the roof cavity.Sign up for the CHEK Now daily email newsletter to get breaking news and the day's top stories sent to your email.“The library is an integral part of our Oak Bay community, and we recognize how much it was missed during the closure,” said Mayor Kevin Murdoch.
