A 95-year-old woman is fighting for her life following a “critical incident” at a NSW nursing home in which she was tasered by police. 7NEWS
Clare Nowland, a dementia patient, was tasered by police at Yallambee Lodge near Cooma on Wednesday.
7NEWS understands Nowland was holding a knife while using her walking frame, prompting staff at the facility to call police.After attempting to disarm the 95-year-old and failing, police used their tasers. “A critical incident investigation has been launched after an elderly woman sustained injuries during an interaction with police at an aged care facility,” NSW Police said.“A critical incident team will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.Clare Nowland, 95, was tasered by police at Yallambee Lodge near Cooma in an incident on Wednesday.The facility where the incident occurred is run by the Snowy Manaro Regional Council.
