Cape Breton edged the Martello Buccaneers of St. Margarets Bay 3-2 at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.Lochlinn Mullaney had the lone goal for the Buccaneers.Meanwhile, on Saturday, Shimon was the story, stopping 42 of 44 shots to lead the Jets to a 3-2 shootout win over Voyageurs HC of Dartmouth.
Ball and James Eddy netted goals for the Jets in regulation time. The shootout winner was not available from the league.Dartmouth’s Loghan Wallace made 36 saves.In Port Hawkesbury, the Cabot Highlanders were defeated 5-1 by Voyageurs HC on Sunday at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre. Ethan Jewer had two goals while Hunter Gauthier, Landen Barrett and Cayden MacKeigan added single markers for the Voyageurs.Dartmouth’s Reid Gillis made 27 saves. Cabot’s Mason Doucet stopped 40 of 45 shots.Seth MacGillivary scored the overtime winner at 2:41 of the extra frame. Josh Gillis scored twice in regulation time for the Highlanders.Cabot’s Tucker Broussard made 44 saves. Martello’s Carter Rudolph turned aside 23 of 25 shots.
