A week after announcing its support of the Voice to Parliament the NRL has launched its Indigenous Round with this year's edition focusing on 'moving forward together'.
The NRL's Indigenous Round begins on Thursday night with a focus on"moving forward together" towards reconciliation.
Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V'landys said this week's commemorations made the round a"truly special week". "As the only national sporting organisation with an Elevate RAP, we have a leadership role to play in educating and storytelling about the Indigenous communities and cultures who give so much to Rugby League," he said.

‘Very arrogant’ of sporting codes to suggest they can ‘influence Australians’ on the VoiceShadow Indigenous Australians Minister Jacinta Price says she thinks it’s “deeply insulting” that sporting codes think they know what’s best for her and her family amid debate over the Voice. This comes after former prime minister John Howard came out and urged sporting codes to not get involved in the Voice debate, saying they shouldn’t get involved in partisan political debates. “It’s also very arrogant to suggest that they could influence Australians on a matter that affects well everybody but treats Indigenous Australians in a most paternalistic way,” Ms Price told Sky News host Paul Murray. “To actually take for granted and suggest that they know what’s best for Indigenous Australians. “I think it’s deeply insulting as an Indigenous Australian that sporting codes think that they know what’s best for my life, my family’s life, and are dictating to the rest of the country what they think’s best when they are absolutely and utterly removed of the circumstances of my family and effectively dividing our nation along the lines of race.”

Mark Speakman ‘sympathetic’ to the idea of the Voice but has concerns over wordingNSW Opposition leader Mark Speakman says the circumstances have changed since Dominic Perrottet stated his position on the Voice to Parliament. Mr Speakman’s remarks come after it was revealed that the Coalition in New South Wales will not bind its members to a certain position on the Indigenous Voice to Parliament ahead of the referendum later this year. “Premier Perrottet, as he then was, supported a Voice to Parliament in principle,” Mr Speakman told Sky News Australia. “What we now have is a proposal for a Voice to the executive as well, we’ve seen the detail of the wording.” He said he’s “sympathetic” to the idea of the Voice but has been concerned about the wording of the referendum.
