NRL: The Melbourne Storm have been crowned Minor Premiers after their win over the Dolphins.
It’s been a dramatic week for the Bunker, with their shocking inconsistency on show for all to see. How can it be rectified with the finals just around the corner?Meanwhile, Penrith coach Ivan Cleary admits his team are nowhere near where they need to be with only two games left until the finals.every game of every round this NRL Telstra Premiership Season LIVE with no ad-breaks during play on Kayo.
Perhaps no one summed up the current confusion in and around the game’s officiating better than Warriors coach Andrew Webster. “I think all things considered, what was up for grabs, I reckon it was just about their best performance of the season,” Matty Johns declared at full-time on Sunday. Nathan Hindmarsh agreed, adding: “They weathered a bit of second-half pressure and came out the other side. That shows where they’re at the moment. They’ve gone that extra level where they’ve been able to withstand a bit of pressure.”
There was slight trepidation from Cleary when asked how he thinks his side is tracking just three weeks out from the finals following Saturday’s shock loss in Canberra. Former Raider Brad Schneider was named to partner Jarome Luai in the halves, and the Raiders exploited that, targeting Schneider’s side all afternoon with varying degrees of success.
Craig Bellamy has once again led this side to top spot in the NRL after the regular season, tallying his sixth J.J. Giltinan Shield. “It’s a well-deserved minor premiership. We worked really hard this year, the staff and everybody behind the scenes deserves this,” Munster said after his win over the Dolphins.
“Nothing he’s done this year has really surprised us because we saw some of that last year. “Certainly this year he’s probably got a lot more consistent … I don’t know if there’s a better player in that position in the competition this year.” “Probably got challenged at the start of the year. He just went back and worked really hard, didn’t kick stones, just wanted to earn the trust and respect of players and coaches,” Bellamy said.“This year he had his best pre-season, he’s managed his body well and stayed fit and healthy. As a team we’re seeing the benefits of it now.”
Seven minutes into the game the stadium again erupted in a round of applause to honour their star halfback, despite him dropping the ball with his first touch of the game, gifting the Dogs ideal attacking field position that the visitors failed to capitalise on. Speaking to Fox League after the game, Johnson described the moment as “really special” before adding that the pre-game guard of honour “buckled him.”
Even more impressive than Johnson’s feats in his early career, when he played with the freedom and evasiveness of a touch footy player, slaloming through defences and delighting fans, has been hisIn the coming weeks and months the career of Shaun Johnson will be revisited fondly, his highlights package played on loop to remind us of what he was and what he became, but arguably the crowning moment of his glorious career lies in the pre-and-post game celebrations of his storeyed career that...
One of the Broncos or Dolphins will be knocked out next week considering they play each other, while the Dragons and Raiders meet in the final round.
