The National Public Transport Coalition-Van Rental Group ( NPTC-VRG ) has raised concerns following a recent drug test conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Davao Region (PDEA-Davao) on Iñigo Street in Davao City. The test resulted in 86 member drivers failing to appear. Bryan Manguiob, NPTC Operations Head, reiterated the association's longstanding policy that drivers must pass a drug test before being allowed to operate.

He emphasized the 'No Drug Test, No Travel Policy,' which prevents drivers from setting their own schedules if they miss the test, and requires them to wait for a rescheduled test organized by the NPTC. Of the 250 van drivers tested, three were found positive for drugs and were sent to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) for confirmatory tests. If confirmed, these drivers will be expelled from the association. The NPTC-VRG fully supports the Department of Transportation’s “Stop Road Crash” initiative, which aims to reduce road accidents and improve passenger safety in collaboration with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO). The NPTC's strict policies reflect their commitment to maintaining public transport safety and professionalism. This incident highlights the ongoing challenge of ensuring the safety and integrity of public transportation systems. The NPTC-VRG's proactive approach, which includes mandatory drug testing and the 'No Drug Test, No Travel Policy,' demonstrates their dedication to upholding high standards within the industry.
