He called the Liberal approach to opioids “health-based” and accused Conservative questioners of “ideological fearmongering.” But here is the key issue: the science of safer supply is often incomplete or qualitative. The “best practice” guidelines were rushed. Not even the death statistics are reliable, because people in studies either go missing and aren’t counted, or their drug-related deaths aren’t classified as such.
In an ideal world, leaders would be concerned with evidence of policy failures and would promise to investigate further. Self-examination and the ability to recognize when one is wrong is critical for those in the governing class, because they wield substantial power . These hallmarks of leadership are not present among the Trudeau Liberals. They have decided to run a society-wide experiment by saturating urban centres with addictive opioids, and they refuse to reflect on the carnage it has caused. It’s a failure of policy — and a failure of leadership.
