KUANTAN: A notice of vacancy in the Pahang state assembly has been submitted to the Election Commission (EC) following the death of Pelangai assemblyman Datuk Seri Johari Harun.
State assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin handed the notice over to Pahang EC director Datuk Zamree Hamli on Monday .Mohd Sharkar also noted that there were 16,475 registered voters in Pelangai as of May 2023.He was a first-term assemblyman who served as the state local government, housing, environment and green technology committee chairman.
Johari had won the Pelangai state seat with a 4,048-vote majority, besting Perikatan Nasional’s Kasim Samad , Pakatan’s Ahmed Wafiuddin Shamsuri and Isa Ahmad from Pejuang in the 15th General Election. Deputy Speaker Lee Chin Chen and state secretary Datuk Seri Zulkifli Yaacob were also present at the handover.
