Not many members of parliament have undergone the “unusual experience” of staying 24 hours in a submarine travelling far down in depth, says Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles.

“I don’t think there are many – if there are others who have done it, I mean I think people have been on a submarine but to actually spend

24 hours and go out to sea on one and go down in depth as we did off the coast of Fremantle,” he told Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.
