Australia is ‘cutting back enough’ to pay for long-range defence systemsAustralia will be “cutting back enough” to pay for a new long-range defence system but needs to recognise adverse economic circumstances could affect its funding, according to Australian Strategic Policy Institute Senior Analyst Malcolm Davis. “What we are doing in a way is cutting back enough areas to pay for these long-range systems, so we’re kind of robbing Peter to pay Paul, shall we say,” Mr Davis told Sky News Australia. “That can be a dangerous move because it ultimately leaves other areas of the defence force under-equipped and underfunded.”
