The Board believes more funding is required to address Ontario’s Housing challenges and should be supported
A northern Ontario municipal lobby group is asking the federal government to put more money into solving the homeless challenge many northern municipalities face, saying a need for affordable housing and support for people at risk of homelessness impacts every community across Ontario.
FONOM is non-partisan, but its Board believes more funding is required to address Ontario’s Housing challenges and should be supported. It has written and endorsed a resolution that states the lack of ongoing federal operating funding for National Housing Strategy initiatives leads to significant underfunding for subsidized housing projects which can undermine the physical and financial viability of the community housing stock.
FONOM is an association of 110 districts/municipalities/cities/towns in northeastern Ontario mandated to work for the betterment of municipal government in northern Ontario and strive for improved legislation respecting local government in the north.
