Nichol was sentenced in 2015 to 11 years on charges of aggravated assault, wearing a disguise in committing an offence , uttering a threat, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, theft and breaching a court order. In pretending to be police officers, Jack was lured from the tent and as his head emerged, he was struck multiple times with the wrench and hammer. The injuries were severe and forced Jack, among other things, to learn how to walk and talk again.
