North Korea has continued to show of its strength with the Japanese government confirming it fired a ballistic missile off its east coast.
The missile appears to have flown over Japanese territory before plunging into the Pacific Ocean, according to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Japanese coast guard. It is understood that the Japanese government did not use any defence measures to destroy the missile, despite it falling into the sea 3,000km from Japan.
Pyongyang's latest ballistic launch comes amid a flurry of military-flexing in the region with tensions escalated by US Vice President Kamala Harris's visit last week.

Ms Harris delivered a speech in which she detailed the “important relationship” and alliance between the US and North Korea. “I was so struck by the North Korea gaffe that basically not a single article in the mainstream press in the US about that gaffe,” he told Sky News Paul Murray. Mr Creighton said if former president Donald Trump or vice president Mike Pence had said that it would be “weeks or months of articles”. “So there’s extraordinary bias here in the US media which means that Americans … don’t even know these gaffes have happened.”
