The owner of a three-foot long ball python has reported it missing to Oak Bay police.

The snake, which is non-venomous, has not been seen since Friday, when it disappeared from the owner’s home in the 2000-block of Oak Bay Avenue, near Foul Bay Road.

It was kept in a secure glass enclosure. The owner is afraid the snake has died because of cooling temperatures. The name ball python comes from the fact that the snakes tend to curl up if threatened. Anyone who sees the snake is asked to contact Oak Bay police at 250-592-2424 or Victoria Animal Control Services at 250-414-0233.
