KOTA KINABALU: Miss World Malaysia 2023, which will be held in Sabah for the second year running, will not have a swimsuit segment as the focus will be on traditional attire.
This was relayed by Hyperlive Entertainment and Miss World Malaysia national director Dr Sean Wong to state Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew.
Liew, who was briefed by the organisers about the event scheduled to be held on Aug 25, had asked if the segment was included in the pageant. Wong said the focus would be on the contestants in traditional attire and the portrayal of culture. Contestants are also required to showcase their talents. “In fact, they will take part in a debate to score points in order to get to the Miss World Finals 2024,” he told the minister.“We are looking at 130 ambassadors from 130 countries vying for honours in the finals next year. The winner will go around the world for charity work,” he said.According to the organisers, Miss World Malaysia 2023, as part of HyperLive Festival Malaysia, would be held at the Sabah International Convention Centre.
Wong said the organisers had made Sabah as the destination for Miss World Malaysia 2023 for the second time in a row.The organisers anticipated that 25 to 30 selected finalists would come to Sabah for the contest.“She will represent Malaysia at Miss World 2024 and become an ambassador for tourism,” Wong said.
