No plans to bring back UPSR, PT3, says minister FMTNews
The UPSR examination for Standard Six students was abolished in 2021 while the PT3 exam for Form Three students was abolished a year later.
Fadhlina said the ministry had transitioned towards school-based assessments following the abolishment of UPSR and PT3, which were taken by Standard Six and Form Three students previously. “Therefore, the education ministry does not plan to bring back an examination-based system at this moment. Any decision to reimplement examinations depends on the results of the Malaysia Education Development Plan 2013-2025, which will end in 2025,” she said.
Fadhlina said school-based assessments involved classroom-based, sports and co-curricular as well as psychometric assessments, adding that they also emphasised the formation of good morals, manners and integrity.
