RCMP say it's fortunate no one was injured after a driver drove through Nanoose Bay's 5K Foam Fest on Saturday, nearly hitting event-goers.

“The vehicle was apparently driving through the crowd and had nearly struck several people,” RCMP Staff Sgt. Kris Clark told CHEK News.Officers found the driver and conducted a series of sobriety tests, which indicated they were “seemingly under the influence of drugs,” according to Clark. He says they were issued a 24-hour driving prohibition. An investigation is underway, with no charges laid against the driver at this time.Sign up for the CHEK Now daily email newsletter to get breaking news and the day's top stories sent to your email.Just after 1:45 p.m. Saturday, RCMP were called back to Foam Fest after a skydiver, with their parachute deployed, “apparently miscalculated the landing and came in with too much speed,” says Clark.
