Ryan Terefenko had never played a game of box lacrosse when he was drafted by the Halifax Thunderbirds four years ago.
“Year 3 has been my most comfortable year by far,” said Terefenko, who hails from Sinking Spring, Penn. “I feel really great out there. I know where my teammates are going. I know where they need me to be and it’s just clicking really well. I’m excited to keep moving forward and keep learning the game and getting more and more comfortable as the seasons, games and years go by.”
Last Friday against Panther City at Scotiabank Centre, he scored an end-to-end transition goal while the team was shorthanded, running the length of the floor, blazing past the checking of Will Malcom, and scoring on Nick Damude before running into the Panther City netminder. He was called for goalie interference but the goal counted.
“Those are guys I all looked up to and in different ways, they played a big role in my career,” said Terefenko, who left Ohio State as the Buckeyes’ all-time leader in ground balls.
