The Nigeria Labour Congress has expressed its determination to ensure that the new minimum wage of N30,000 would be implemented by all state governors.
Ayuba Wabba, President of the NLC, said this on Wednesday at the launch of Oyo State Pensioners’ House in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. The complex is home to a 1,000-seater event hall, a radio station, a clinic for pensioners and an ICT centre. Wabba, who was represented by Waheed Olojede, the Oyo State NLC chairman, described leaders of government as “enemies of workers".
Addressing workers on the union's action on the new minimum wage, he added:"We thank God that the struggle for a new wage which began in 2011, was finally laid to rest with the assent of President Muhammadu Buhari last Thursday. The assent has made it a law, therefore making it incumbent on all employers of labour to pay every Nigerian worker N30,000 as minimum wage.“The process has the inclusion and full participation of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
