Nicola Sturgeon has resigned as Scotland’s longest-serving and first female First Minister after eight years in the job.
The Scottish National Leader said she will remain in office until a successor can be elected by the party.
Ms Sturgeon, who turns 53 this year, said her decision came from a place of duty and of tough love for her party and for her country.
