Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has announced he is pulling out of Wimbledon just hours before the tournament was set to begin.
The world No. 33 broke the news to fans on Monday morning, saying he has"tried everything to be able to play" after surgery, but scans revealed he had a torn ligament.
"Hey everyone. I'm really sad to say that I have to withdraw from Wimbledon this year," he informed his 4.1 million fans on his Instagram Stories. "I tried my hardest to be ready after my surgery and to be able to step on the Wimbledon court again. Picture: Getty As a precaution, the 28-year-old said he underwent a scan which showed he had a torn ligament in his wrist.
"I tried everything to be able to play and I am disappointed to say that I just didn't have enough time to manage it before Wimbledon," he continued. The Wimbledon tournament will begin on Monday .
