His existing deal was to expire at the end of 2019. The 28-year-old from Phoenix made US$275,000 last year, according to the MLS Players Association. DeLeon joined Toronto via the re-entry draft last December after D.C. United declined his contract option.DeLeon spent the first seven years of his career with D.C. United, appearing in 180 regular-season games with 13 goals and 16 assists. He was used as a fullback in his later years with D.C. United.
DeLeon was taken seventh overall in the 2012 SuperDraft, after a collegiate career split between UNLV and Louisville. "In a short period of time with our club, Nick has had a significant impact both on and off the field," Toronto FC general manager Ali Curtis said in a statement. "Nick is a talented soccer player, but he is also an exceptional human being. We are very happy to extend his contract and ensure he remains part of our club moving forward."
