The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) has achieved its highest Corporate Governance Scorecard (CGS) rating since 2017, exceeding the average and demonstrating significant improvement.

The National Irrigation Administration ( NIA ) received an 'Above Average' rating in the 2023 Corporate Governance Scorecard (CGS) from the Governance Commission for Government -Owned and -Controlled Corporations. This marks the first time the agency achieved that high a rating since 2017.Its 2023 rating of 75.71 percent exceeded the CGS average of 60-69.99 percent.

This is likewise higher than its 66 percent (Average) rating in 2022, and way above its pre-pandemic score of 38 percent (Below Average) in 2019.The NIA welcomed the development, saying its latest CGS is proof of its dedication and continuous development. The agency vowed to continue fulfilling its mandate. The CGS is a tool to evaluate the performance of government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs). The scores are derived from the following criteria: 50 percent from responsibilities of the board of directors, 35 percent from disclosure and transparency, and 15 percent from stakeholder relationships. The CGS is different from the Performance Scorecard, which uses unique criteria and parameters in assessing the performance of each GOCC
