11, 2024.Michael Charleston 'Xiao' Chua will deliver a lecture on the life and works of Jacinto, the young revolutionary leader of the Katipunan who was instrumental in building the foundations of the Katipunan through his various works.A student when he joined the revolutionary society, Jacinto later became one of its leading intellectuals, using the alias 'Pingkian' and authoring the Kartilya ng Katipunan.After Andres Bonifacio's death, Jacinto continued to fight for our country's freedom. He moved to Laguna where he joined other revolutionary forces, including General Paciano Rizal, in fighting the Spanish colonial forces in the region. He passed away on April 16, 1899.An excerpt from the musical 'Pingkian' will be performed, followed by a panel discussionwith the actors and Chua on the musical's reimagining of Jacinto's life.The Jacinto150 commemoration is one of three sesquicentennials that form part of the 2025 Year of Youth in Philippine History alongside the Lakambini of the Katipunan, Gregoria de Jesus and the Boy General, Gregorio Del Pilar.The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research and publications, and to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
