NFL TRADE DEADLINE DAY: Canada’s Claypool off to Bears Via JohnKryk
Chicago was one of two NFC North teams not named the Green Bay Packers to upgrade its pass-catching corps on Tuesday.
In other last-hour NFL trades reported, albeit before terms were finalized, Denver agreed to send star pass rusher Bradley Chubb to Miami — for a 2023 Round 1 pick, a 2024 Round 4 pick and running back Chase Edmonds — and Washington reportedly agreed to send cornerback William Jackson III to Pittsburgh.
At least Claypool — a graduate of Abbotsford Senior Secondary School — is reunited with his former University of Notre Dame teammate and close personal friend Cole Kmet, a Bears tight end since 2020. The two trained together in California in the months leading up to the 2020 NFL Draft. In Chicago, Claypool has perhaps a better chance to be featured, as the Bears current pass-catching pool is not only middling, but mostly under-performing with drops galore.
