Despite aged rice stocks, NFA assures high quality and plans to utilize Kadiwa stores for distribution.
The National Food Authority ( NFA ) stated on Tuesday that it possesses 80,000 sacks of aged rice stored in its warehouse, assuring that these reserves maintain high quality. NFA administrator Larry Lacson clarified that these aging stocks, aged over three to six months, are sold at Kadiwa centers for P29 per kilogram. Lacson emphasized that the NFA strictly adheres to quality maintenance , ensuring stocks are free from pests and mold through fumigation and separation.
He stated that the NFA can only distribute rice bags during calamities, but the Department of Agriculture (DA) is planning to expand Kadiwa stores to distribute more rice and prevent spoilage. The DA aims to collaborate with local government units to broaden the Kadiwa network
