Opponents of Newington’s decision to admit girls won a Supreme Court battle against the college’s old boys’ council last week.
Newington College’s decision to go co-ed triggered a predictable meltdown among alumni of the $42,000-a-year school. And equally predictable was the venue for the latest skirmish in the battle to save Newington from girls: none other than the NSW Supreme Court, which last week delivered a victory of sorts for the male champions against change., where nearly 1000 former students showed up and opponents of the co-ed move successfully passed a resolution spilling the leadership of the alumni group.
