Clarenville dealership seeing increased interest in ATVs, side-by-sides this time of year

JOHN'S, N.L. — When Dwayne Wiseman's grandfather, Frank, first opened Wiseman's Sales and Service in Clarenville 49 years ago, snowmobiles were the business's bread and butter.
"We pretty much had to pivot to make this business more into a marine and recreation , outside of snowmobiles. We went from it being our money maker, snowmobiles, to right now, it's probably the smallest part of our market," Wiseman said. Typically, Wiseman's Sales and Service would see most of its snowmobile inventory sold by the end of January, but Wiseman said that in the last couple of years he hasn't noticed much traditional winter weather until February and March.
"Snowmobile sales are very weather-dependent. The fall, you generally have a run on them. But now, we've got a bit of around. Sales are steady. We're up over last year. ... There seems to be a little bit more traffic around. There seems to be a lot of doom and gloom with the economy, but people it appears are still pretty positive about buying stuff."
