The agreement recognizes that the two governments share many cultural, social and economic ties and aims to build on these to help both regions thrive. “As coastal regions, we will collaborate on infrastructure that promotes growth and contributes to Canadian sovereignty.” “Newfoundland and Labrador and Nunavut share a common approach towards safe and sustainable development in the Arctic and the north,” said Indigenous Affairs Minister Lisa Dempster.
