CONTRIBUTED These days, however, there is no time to sit among the sunlit greenery and colourful fruit plants. Clarke and her son, Nicholas, are working long hours preparing for the spring opening of their new south shore business, the Exotic Fruit Nursery, located on 33 acres at 85 Front Centre Rd. near Lunenburg.
“The climate is slightly different here,” Clarke said. “So, I have to first learn what will survive here. Not just because of the temperatures because of different disease issues here.”“I like Lunenburg … It’s the right amount of people and the right amount of nature around me. I love the people. They are super nice. It just felt more like home, probably a bit of the German background here historically.
“I got really excited because we will be able to get things at the peak of their ripeness. As a chef that’s always at the forefront,” Settle said about Clarke’s plans to offer many hard-to-access fruits.
