The way Australians purchase paracetamol is changing under new rules confirmed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.

The TGA confirmed on Wednesday a final decision had been made on the size of packaging that paracetamol products are sold in, following a consultation period.

Under the new restrictions, the maximum pack size available for sale in supermarkets and convenience stores will be 16 tablets or capsules, down from the current 20.
