"One of the most dangerous places for vulnerable members of our community is not on our streets, it's behind closed doors," Assistant Commissioner Brian Codd said. In response to the increasing number of cases, Queensland police have launched a collaboration with Griffith University's MATE and Be There program to help people learn the signs of domestic violence."It's important to see ourselves as active bystanders," she said.

Gareth Train’s only offence was unlawful firearm possession in 1998, as his license was expired, while Stacey Train had no criminal record.
