Contributed - Kathy JohnsonCLARK'S HARBOUR, N.S. — It’s been a long wait, but the Canadian Coast Guard station in Clark’s Harbour is finally getting a new search and rescue lifeboat.
The vessel can operate up to 100 nautical miles from shore, maintains a maximum 30-minute state of readiness, and is also equipped to assist in marine environmental response operations to reduce the impacts of marine pollution incidents. “With the completion of the CCGS Gabarus Bay and CCGS Chedabucto Bay, the National Shipbuilding Strategy delivered top-of-the-line Canadian-built vessels to the Canadian Coast Guard," said Joyce Murray, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard in a media release.
