The Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the US Pacific Air Forces (Pacaf) formally inaugurated a new fuel oil storage facility at the Brig. Gen. Benito N. Ebuen Air Base in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, on Thursday. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Pacaf commander, Gen. Kevin Schneider, and PAF Air Mobility Command chief, Maj. Gen. Ramil Oloroso. Constructed by Himalayan Builders and Engineers Pvt. Ltd.
and ACE Builders, the facility boasts two above-ground storage tanks, each with a capacity of 75,078 liters. It incorporates a modern fuel handling system, a covered parking area for refueling trucks, and a secured perimeter designed and built to meet stringent security and safety standards. The project commenced on June 22, 2022, and was successfully completed on September 6, 2024.The PAF highlighted that this project, undertaken under the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (Edca), will significantly bolster the PAF's fuel storage and distribution capabilities. This enhancement will directly translate to improved operational readiness and logistical efficiency, supporting a wide range of PAF flying missions. These missions encompass airlift, internal security, and territorial defense operations, ultimately strengthening the Air Force's ability to respond effectively to diverse operational requirements. Furthermore, the facility will be instrumental in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, reinforcing national defense capabilities
