New deal for starting QB Maier a Stamp of approval Stampeders CFL

He had to wait for his opportunity this season, but eventually replaced Mitchell as the Stampeders starter in Week 12 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. “He’s young and he’s doing some things that most young guys don’t do, which basically is be really efficient, protect the ball, move in the pocket, good decision-making and I do believe he’s a winner,” said Stamps head coach Dave Dickenson. “He finds ways to win game, it’s all the things you like. I know he’s got room for improvement, he knows that.”
Maier completed 27-of-33 passes for 294 yards while spreading the ball to eight different receivers and also running the ball twice for 14 yards in the Stampeders’ winning effort against the Lions.
