Algoma Public Health announced new clinic dates in Sault Ste. Marie for Moderna bivalent mRNA COVID-19 vaccine.

Residents 18 years of age and older are eligible for the bivalent vaccine as a booster dose to provide more protection against the Omicron variants.Algoma Public Health has added new clinic dates in Sault Ste. Marie, offering the Moderna bivalent mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. This vaccine offers protection against severe illness from COVID-19 and provides more targeted protection against the Omicron variants.

All adults 18 years of age and older are eligible to receive the bivalent vaccine as a booster dose. It is recommended that this booster dose be received six months after a previous dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. “Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 remains a simple and critical layer of protection to stay healthy this fall,” said Dr. John Tuinema, acting medical officer of Health Algoma Public Health. “Booster doses are recommended because over time, protection from COVID-19 vaccines decreases.
