MARSHVILLE, N.S. — Driving down the old Hwy. 6 towards Pictou County, passing Brule and driving towards River John, one might not even notice when they’ve crossed from Colchester County into Pictou County., wanted to change that.
The work to get a sign on the county boundaries has been a process that’s been in the works for over two years, Elliott said during the Property and Finance meeting of the MOPC council on Monday night, Oct. 16. “It’s very pleasing to reach this point,” Elliott said during the meeting, “There’s nothing but positivity from the community to see this goal reached.”
There were two options for the 4x8 sign to be installed along the highway on the table during the property and finance meeting. The first option was to get a sign from Pictou Advocate made of aluminum composite with an automotive clear coat for $618.00.District 8 councillor Larry Turner advocated for the UV option. Despite the extra cost, he said it would be worth it in the long run.
The motion passed to purchase the $659.00 sign, which will be installed by municipal staff. The design of the sign has yet to be finalized.
