The scheduled arraignment of actress and social media personality Neri Naig for the syndicated estafa case in the Pasay City Regional Trial Court was postponed again on Thursday, January 9. According to a GMA News '24 Oras' report by Saleema Refran, Neri's lawyer said the reading of the charges against their client was postponed due to pending motions. Neri, accompanied by her husband and singer Chito Miranda , refused to give a statement.

The initial reading of the charges against Neri was scheduled for December 3, 2024, but was moved after the court awaited the prosecution's comment regarding the motion to quash filed by Neri's camp. Prosecutor General Richard Fadullion stated that the syndicated estafa case against Neri was brought to the Department of Justice for further review. In November, Neri was arrested based on an arrest warrant and detained for several days due to the complaint filed by those who invested in the skincare company Dermacare. Neri's camp insists that she was only an endorser of the product and did not solicit investments from people in the company. After Neri's camp filed a motion with the court, the judge ordered the actress's release due to some defects in the handling of her case. However, the court did not completely dismiss the case against the actress as the complaint against her is still being reviewed. Aside from Neri, actress Rufa Mae Quinto was also charged and issued an arrest warrant for Dermacare. However, Rufa was not included in the complaints against Neri related to syndicated estafa. Upon returning to the country on Wednesday, Rufa surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation and was released on Thursday after posting bail exceeding P1 million. Robert Labe, legal counsel for the complainants, stated, “They are availing the remedies, it's their right. But still, the facts remain that there are private complainants.” —FRJ, GMA Integrated New
