Needtobreathe is touring to promote its latest album, 'Caves,' and will be performing June 1 at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls. The veteran band is popular on the Christian music scene and has crossed over to pop success.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Needtobreathe, the South Carolina band originally made up of brothers William “Bear” Bryant and Nathanial “Bo” Bryant, is 20 years into its impressive career as purveyors of uplifting, anthemic Southern-flavored alt-rock with big choruses and catchy riffs. The band will perform many of those anthems at Blossom Music Center on Saturday, June 1. Tickets start at $29.
Keyboardist Josh Lovelace officially joined Needtobreathe in 2011 after having been friends with band for awhile and playing on the group’s Billboard 200 Top 20 album “The Reckoning.” That album’s sucess earned the band the band and its newest member, an opening slot on Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now World Tour.”
In its younger days, Lovelace said the band’s ambition knew few boundaries and the desire to “make it big,” and learn how to play big to big audiences was a primary goal. On that Swift tour Lovelace said the band would receive DVDs of their soundboard and camera edits of their performance each night and would go back to the bus and critique themselves, pulling no punches.
“There’s always the element of surprise with our band. We never want to plan things too far in advance to where something magical couldn’t happen,” he said. “We’ve grown up in a way and we appreciate the back catalog a little bit more maybe now,” Lovelace said. Aside from his keyboard and songwriting duties in Needtobreathe, Lovelace also has a second career as a children’s music artist under the name“We were gone a lot and so I just started writing them songs and recording them for them and it kind of became this thing where I thought maybe other families would benefit from this and have some songs that they could sing with their kids. And, it’s been a really rewarding thing that I’ve gotten to do over the last little bit,” he said.
