GIFT-GIVING BY THE SEA. They wear no Santa costumes but just the same, these crewmen of the Navy’s BRP Jose Loor give away food packages to fishermen and their families from the shore villages of Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi on Christmas Day. village people of Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi.

According to the Navy, the “Gift Giving by the Sea” project was conducted while the ship was on Maritime Security Patrol Internal and External Defense Operations in the “southwestern frontier of the country.”The beneficiaries were fisherman in the islands of Andulinang, Siluag and Panguan, all in Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi.

The Navy ship also conducted “Gift Giving by the Sea” and “Water is Life” initiatives to the families of a Badjau community at Panguan Island to alleviate the scarcity of freshwater while giving food packs containing rice, canned goods and pack noodles. This activity is part of the Yuletide Season of the unit wherein the crew promotes the spirit of generosity and kindness as a way to give back the received blessings for this year.

“Likewise, the essence of gift-giving to the community signifies the compassion and expression of empathy by the crew uplifting others, restoring hope, and bridging the gap between the coastal community of Tawi-Tawi and the Philippine Navy in Naval Forces Western Mindanao.” Navy said.
