CHANNEL-PORT AUX BASQUES, N.L. — Roughly 30 hectares of boreal forest near the community of Millville has been protected by the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
The landscape features a dense mixed forest with mature yellow birches, providing ideal habitat for at-risk birds, including olive-sided flycatcher, evening grosbeak and red crossbill. “The Grand Codroy Estuary has been a key priority for us since we began working in Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Piers Evans, NCC program director in the province.
