A strange, shimmering ‘jellyfish’ galaxy has piqued the interest of the US space agency.

The strange-looking galaxy – which is officially called ESO 137-001 – has tendrils of young stars dangling from its central disk like ‘cosmic tentacles’. Nasa says it plans to investigate why this occurs. ‘Most galaxies live in groups — for example, the Milky Way is a member of the Local Group, which also contains galaxies like Andromeda and the Triangulum spiral.’
