New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet says he believes today’s NAPLAN results for the state have “a lot of positives” however there needs to be a “stronger focus” on education in regional areas.
“There’s no doubt that we need to have a stronger focus in regional NSW,” Mr Perrottet said at a media conference on Wednesday.
“All schools are different, and all schools have different challenges they face but the importance of these results is … if you don’t see the impacts, then you can’t make the requisite changes. “So the Education Minister will certainly look at that and make sure that we are continuing to tailor our programs to ensure that wherever you live in our great state – whether that’s in metropolitan Sydney or regional NSW you have the best education possible.”
